The app screen goes completely black after a while. What should I do?

In most cases, a completely black screen after the app has been in use for a while is caused by an app system file that has become corrupted. Follow the steps below, in this order.

Note: if the black image only appears in the Screenshot, while the TV is showing YouTube or Vimeo videos, see The screenshot shows a completely black image.

1. Clear the cache

  1. In the control panel, open the TV.
  2. Click the Clear cache option.

2. Reinstall the app

Uninstall the app from the device and install it again. Updating it is not enough: if there is a corrupted file, only reinstalling can fix the problem.

Important: when you reinstall it, the app generates a new activation code, and you need to unlink and link the TV again. See how to unlink a TV and how to link a TV.

3. Restore the device

Open the device settings and use the Reset option to return to the factory settings. This step is recommended for cases where a system file has become corrupted.

If nothing works

If none of the options above fixes the problem, you may need to replace the device with another one. See the list of recommended Android devices.
