What does each TV status in the dashboard mean?

The dashboard tracks how each TV communicates with the servers and shows the result as colors and text in four places: the TV list, the status button in the menu, the Status Page, and each TV's page.

Statuses and colors

StatusColorWhat it means
Working ProperlyGreenThe TV is communicating normally and playing content.
CheckingOrangeThe TV hasn't communicated for a few minutes, or it's communicating but hasn't started playing yet (for example, it's loading the app or waiting for content).
No CommunicationRedThe TV hasn't communicated with the servers for 10 minutes or more.
No Communication Outside Operating HoursGrayThe TV isn't communicating, but it's outside the Operating Hours set for it.

In practice, the TV changes to Checking when it goes 3 to 10 minutes without communicating.

Note: No Communication doesn't mean the TV has stopped showing content. See The TV shows as offline. Does the content stop playing?

Status button and Status Page

When you have at least one TV, the menu shows a status button with a summary, such as All working, 1 not communicating, 3 not communicating, 2 with alerts, or Outside Operating Hours.

Click the button to open the Status Page. It shows an overall message (for example, All working properly or Some TVs not communicating) and the list of TVs with each one's status, starting with the ones that aren't communicating. The page refreshes automatically.

Choose which TVs appear

The Show on Status Page and Button option controls whether the TV appears on the Status Page and is counted in the button summary. Choose No for TVs you don't need to monitor.

  1. In the TVs menu, click the TV's name.
  2. Click the Extras tab.
  3. Click Enable Editing.
  4. In the Dashboard group, choose Yes or No for Show on Status Page and Button.
  5. Click Save.

Alerts in the TV list

When Show Alerts is set to Yes (in the same Dashboard group), the TV list shows an icon next to the TV's name when there's a problem. Hover over the icon to see the reason, and click it to see what to do:

  • Restarting too many times in a short period. See what to do.
  • The device clock appears to be out of sync. See what to do.
  • No communication for more than X days. See what to do.
  • Storage running low on free space. See what to do.

Tip: in Sort by, choose Alerts to see TVs with alerts first.

Status on the TV page

On the Settings and Status tab, the Status and Information group shows:

  • App: the current status, such as Online - Working, Offline - No communication, No communication for X minutes, Verifying, Loading, or Waiting for Content.
  • Online for / Offline for: how long the TV has been online or offline.
  • Last Info: the latest activity reported by the app, such as Showing (what's on the screen), Playing, Loading App, Downloading Content for Playback, Waiting for File Optimization to Finish, Updating, or TV Connection Problem with the Servers.

On some devices, you'll also see an App Monitor line with the status of the Monitor App.
