The app freezes or shows an inactivity warning on the Amazon Fire Stick. What should I do?
In March 2024, Amazon introduced Data Monitoring on Fire Stick devices. With it, by default, the device displays an alert asking you to confirm that you are "watching" something if nobody touches the device for 4 hours.
The alert can stay on screen for up to 2 minutes. Normally, the app continues to work correctly after this period. In rare cases, however, the app does not detect the alert and does not resume working correctly.
How to turn off the alert
- On the Fire Stick, go to Settings.
- Open Preferences.
- Select Data Monitoring.
- For the Still Watching option, select Off.
That's it: the alert should no longer appear.
