The app freezes or shows an inactivity warning on Amazon Fire Stick. What should I do?
In March 2024, Amazon introduced Data Usage Monitoring on Fire Stick devices. With it, by default, the device shows an alert asking you to confirm that you are still "watching" content if nobody has used the device for 4 hours.
The alert can stay on the screen for up to 2 minutes. Normally, the app keeps working correctly after this period. In rare cases, however, the app does not detect the alert and does not go back to working correctly.
How to turn off the alert
- On the Fire Stick, go to Settings.
- Open Preferences.
- Select Data Usage Monitoring.
- In the Still Watching option, select Off.
Done: the alert should no longer appear.
