What is the difference between the image fill options?
For images, the Fill option defines how the image takes up the TV screen. There are two options: Show Entire Image and Fill TV Screen.
| Option | What happens |
|---|---|
| Show Entire Image | The image fills the whole screen without cropping or distortion, regardless of the image's resolution or format. |
| Fill TV Screen | The image fills the screen with cropping, so that no black bars are shown when the image's aspect ratio is different from the TV's aspect ratio. |
Show Entire Image
No part of the image is cropped or distorted, whatever its resolution or format. Use this option when no part of the image can be left out.
Fill TV Screen
The image is cropped when necessary, so that the screen has no black bars even when the image's aspect ratio is different from the TV's aspect ratio. Use this option when you want the screen completely filled.
By default, the focal point of the crop is the center of the image. If you set the most important point of the image, the crop is based on that point instead.
Tip: if something important in the image is near the edges, set the most important point of the image so that this area keeps showing on the TV.
