What is the difference between the image fill options?
For images, the Fill option defines how the image takes up the TV screen. There are two options: Show Whole Image and Fill the TV.
| Option | What happens |
|---|---|
| Show Whole Image | The image fills the whole screen without cropping or distortion, regardless of the image's resolution or format. |
| Fill the TV | The image fills the screen with cropping, so that no black bars are shown when the image's aspect ratio differs from the TV's aspect ratio. |
Show Whole Image
Nothing in the image is cropped or distorted, whatever its resolution or format. Use this option when no part of the image can be left out.
Fill the TV
The image is cropped when necessary, so that the screen has no black bars even when the image's aspect ratio differs from the TV's aspect ratio. Use this option when you want the screen to be completely filled.
By default, the focal point for cropping is the centre of the image. If you set the most important point of the image, cropping is based on that point instead.
Tip: if something important in the image is near the edges, set the most important point of the image so that this area still appears on the TV.
