What does each option in a TV's Extras tab do?
The Extras tab, on each TV's page, brings together app settings and management information. To change any of them:
- In the TVs menu, click the TV's name.
- Click the Extras tab.
- Click Enable Editing.
- Make your changes.
- Click Save.
Important: some options only appear on certain devices (Android or Windows) or app versions. If an option doesn't appear for your TV, it isn't available for that device. Changes may take a few minutes to take effect and are only applied when the TV is Online / Working properly.
Control Panel
- Show on Status Page and Button: sets whether the TV's status appears on the Status Page and on the status button in the menu.
- Show Alerts: shows alerts if the TV is having trouble starting up or stays Offline / No communication for many days in a row.
See what each TV status means.
Display Language
- Entertainment: the language the TV uses to display entertainment content that supports multiple languages. If the entertainment content doesn't support the chosen language, it's displayed in English. See how to display entertainment content in another language.
App
- Transition Effect: with Yes, there's a "fade" effect when switching from one piece of content to the next. With No, the switch is immediate.
- Video Playback Mode: only appears on some devices with older versions of the app. Normal works well on most devices. See video scaling and playback mode.
- Audio: Disabled, Enabled (default), or Always On. See how audio works.
- Auto Start (Android): whether the app opens on its own when the device is turned on. See The app doesn't open on its own when the TV is turned on.
- Auto Monitor (Android): whether the app reopens on its own when it's closed. See App and Monitor App.
- File Scaling (Windows): how each file fits the window. See file scaling.
- Screen / Monitor, Window Size, and Window Position (Windows): which screen and which area the app uses to display content, such as on LED panels. See how to display content on an LED panel.
- Secure Connection: whether the app uses HTTPS. See the section below.
- File Integrity Check: with Enabled, the app checks the integrity of files when downloading them. The default is Disabled. See integrity check problem.
- Restart the App Automatically: only appears in older versions of the app. See TVs that stay on all the time.
Secure Connection
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Disabled (default) | The app doesn't make any connections over HTTPS (with SSL). |
| Automatic | The app uses HTTPS only when current conditions allow the connection to work properly. |
| Always | The app always uses HTTPS. Recommended only if your organization requires all data sent over the network to use HTTPS. |
In most cases, Disabled is the best option. On some devices, if there are certificate problems (depending on the content being accessed) and the system clock is set incorrectly, an invalid certificate error may appear on the screen. If you're unsure, leave the option disabled or contact our support team.
Management
- Tags / Folders: group TVs to make them easier to manage in the list. See how to use tags/folders.
- Barcode (EAN / UPC) and Description / Additional information: free-form information to identify the TV. It appears when you hover over the TV's name in the list and is included in searches.
- Operating Hours: see what it's for.
Monetization
- adMooH (Smart Template URL / Token): integration with the adMooH advertising platform. See how to monetize your screens with adMooH.
Tip: if a red information icon appears next to the Extras tab name, the device doesn't support or is preventing the app from starting automatically. See The app doesn't open on its own when the TV is turned on.
