How do I schedule when a file is shown?

Scheduling defines on which dates, days or times a file can be shown. Outside these periods, the file does not appear on the TVs, even though it remains in the playlist.

Important: a scheduled file is only shown if it is in a playlist.

Scheduling depends on your plan. If the scheduling fields do not appear on the file page, your plan does not include this feature.

Schedule a file

  1. In the menu, go to Files and click the file name.
  2. Click Enable Editing.
  3. On the Settings and Information tab, in the Scheduling field, click Add Schedule.
  4. Under Select the Schedule Type, choose the type (see the table below).
  5. Fill in the dates, times or day.
  6. If you want to combine rules, click Add Schedule again. You can add several schedules.
  7. Choose the Scheduling Rule.
  8. Click Save.

To remove a schedule, click the X next to it (with editing enabled) and then click Save.

Tip: the question mark next to Add Schedule opens a summary of how to use scheduling.

Schedule types

TypeHow it works
Date and Time RangeStart and/or end date and time. You do not have to fill in both: you can enter just the start or just the end.
Time of Day RangeStart time and end time, applying to every day. Both are required.
Time of Day Range on a Specific DayStart time and end time that apply only on the chosen day of the week. Both are required.
Day of the WeekA specific day of the week. Repeats automatically every week.

Scheduling Rule

When the file has more than one schedule, the rule defines how they are combined:

RuleWhen the file is shown
Show when any of the dates are validWhen at least one of the schedules is in effect. This is the default rule.
Show only when all dates are validOnly when all the schedules are in effect at the same time. Example: Day of the Week Monday and Time of Day Range from 08:00 to 12:00 show the file only on Monday mornings.
Do not show on any of these selected datesAt all other times. The file stops appearing whenever any of the schedules is in effect.
Do not show when these selected dates occur togetherAt all other times. The file stops appearing only when all the schedules are in effect at the same time.

Example: show only at the weekend

  1. Add a schedule of the Day of the Week type and choose Saturday.
  2. Add another of the Day of the Week type and choose Sunday.
  3. Under Scheduling Rule, leave Show when any of the dates are valid selected.
  4. Click Save.

Schedule several files at once

  1. On the Files page, tick the files.
  2. Under With selected..., choose Change Schedule.
  3. Add the schedules and choose the Scheduling Rule.
  4. Click Save.

Important: the schedules saved in this window replace the ones the selected files already have. To delete all schedules from these files, save without adding any.

How to tell whether the file is being shown now

On the Files page, a clock icon appears next to the name of each scheduled file. The colour indicates the status: green for Being shown, grey for Will be shown in the future and red for Not being shown. The icon also shows the file's schedules and the rule used.

Requirements on the TVs

  • File scheduling was introduced in version 3.7 of the app. On TVs with an earlier version, files with schedules do not work properly: update the app.
  • If the device's clock is wrong, the file may not appear at the scheduled time. See The device's clock seems to be wrong. What should I do?.
