How do I schedule playlists by day and time on a TV?

With scheduling, the TV switches playlists by itself according to the date, day or time. For example: one playlist at lunchtime and another in the evening. Outside the scheduled times, the TV shows the default playlist, which is the one chosen in the TV's Playlist field.

Note: scheduling is not included in every plan. If your plan does not include this feature, the Schedules tab shows the message Schedules available on the Essential, Premium and Corporate plans.

How to add a schedule

  1. In the TVs menu, click the name of the TV.
  2. Click Enable Editing.
  3. In the Settings and Status tab, under Basic settings, check that a playlist is selected in Playlist. This is the default playlist.
  4. Open the Schedules tab.
  5. Click Add Schedule.
  6. In Select the Schedule Type, choose the type (see the table below).
  7. In Playlist, choose the playlist to be shown during the period.
  8. Fill in the period.
  9. Repeat steps 5 to 8 for each schedule you want to add.
  10. Click Save.

To remove a schedule, click Enable Editing, click the x next to it and save.

Tip: click the ? next to Add Schedule to see the rules in the dashboard itself.

Schedule types

TypeHow it works
Date and Time PeriodA start and/or end date and time. You can fill in just the start date or just the end date.
Time of Day PeriodA start time and an end time, which apply to every day.
Time of Day Period on a Specific DayA start time and an end time, only on the chosen day of the week.
Day of the WeekOne day of the week. Repeats every week.
Day of the MonthOne day of the month. Repeats every month.
MonthA whole month. Repeats every year.

For the Time of Day Period and Time of Day Period on a Specific Day types, the start time and end time are required. The period can go past midnight, for example from 22:00 to 02:00.

Important rules

  • The TV must be online. If the TV is offline at the scheduled time, it keeps showing the last playlist it received while it was online.
  • Have a default playlist. Without one, nothing is shown outside the scheduled times, and the dashboard shows an alert on the TV's page.
  • There is no priority setting. If two schedules overlap, this order applies: Date and Time Period, Time of Day Period on a Specific Day, Time of Day Period, Day of the Month, Day of the Week and, finally, Month.
  • Empty scheduled playlist. If the scheduled playlist is empty, or only contains scheduled files that are outside their display time, the app keeps showing the items from the previous playlist.
  • Device clock. Schedules follow the date and time set on the device, shown in TV Date/Time, under Status and Information. If they are wrong, see The device clock seems to be wrong.

To choose when a specific file appears within a playlist, use file scheduling: How to schedule when a file appears.
