How do I schedule when a file is shown?
Scheduling defines on which dates, days or times a file can be shown. Outside these periods, the file does not appear on the TVs, even though it remains in the playlist.
Important: a scheduled file is only shown if it is in a playlist.
Scheduling depends on your plan. If the scheduling fields do not appear on the file page, your plan does not include this feature.
Schedule a file
- In the menu, go to Files and click the file name.
- Click Enable Editing.
- On the Settings and Information tab, in the Scheduling field, click Add Schedule.
- In Select the Schedule Type, choose the type (see the table below).
- Fill in the dates, times or day.
- If you want to combine rules, click Add Schedule again. You can add multiple schedules.
- Choose the Scheduling Rule.
- Click Save.
To remove a schedule, click the X next to it (with editing enabled) and then click Save.
Tip: the question mark next to Add Schedule opens a summary of how to use scheduling.
Schedule types
| Type | How it works |
|---|---|
| Period of Days and Hours | Start and/or end date and time. You do not have to fill in both: you can enter only the start or only the end. |
| Period of Hours of the Day | Start time and end time, applying to every day. Both are required. |
| Period of Hours of the Day on a Specific Day | Start time and end time that apply only on the chosen day of the week. Both are required. |
| Day of the Week | A specific day of the week. Repeats automatically every week. |
| Day of the Month | A specific day of the month. Repeats automatically every month. |
| Month | A specific month. Repeats automatically every year. |
Scheduling Rule
When the file has more than one schedule, the rule defines how they are combined:
| Rule | When the file is shown |
|---|---|
| Show when any of the dates are valid | When at least one of the schedules is in effect. This is the default rule. |
| Show only when all dates are valid | Only when all the schedules are in effect at the same time. Example: Day of the Week Monday and Period of Hours of the Day from 08:00 to 12:00 show the file only on Monday mornings. |
| Do not show on any of these selected dates | At all other times. The file stops appearing whenever any of the schedules is in effect. |
| Do not show on these selected dates together | At all other times. The file stops appearing only when all the schedules are in effect at the same time. |
Example: show only on weekends
- Add a schedule of the type Day of the Week and choose Saturday.
- Add another one of the type Day of the Week and choose Sunday.
- In Scheduling Rule, leave Show when any of the dates are valid selected.
- Click Save.
Schedule multiple files at once
- On the Files page, select the files.
- In With selected..., choose Change Schedule.
- Add the schedules and choose the Scheduling Rule.
- Click Save.
Important: the schedules saved in this window replace the ones the selected files already have. To delete all the schedules from these files, save without adding any.
How to know whether the file is being shown now
On the Files page, a clock icon appears next to the name of each scheduled file. The colour indicates the status: green for Is being shown, grey for Will be shown in the future and red for Is not being shown. The icon also shows the file's schedules and the rule used.
Requirements on the TVs
- File scheduling was introduced in version 3.7 of the app. On TVs with an earlier version, files with schedules do not work correctly: update the app.
- If the device clock is wrong, the file may not appear at the scheduled time. See The device clock seems to be wrong. What should I do?.
